Transcript
Zach:
Camp is just an unbelievable party, and it really can’t be missed. It’s so crucial to a child’s development, especially Jewishly. Parents should carve out that three weeks or four weeks out of the summer and make sure camp is a priority.
Question: What kind of an experience is Jewish summer camp?
Zach:
At camp, you get to choose your own adventure. You come, and you’re away from your parents and you’re with your best friends, you’re eating amazing food and you’re singing amazing songs and there’s no pressure. You can really be the best version of yourself at camp. You know, kids get off the bus, they’re so used to looking at their screens and at camp, you’re screen free. And that’s so important for a kid’s development.
Question: What kind of programming does summer camp offer?
Zach:
We have this unbelievable schedule where kids wake up and we go to flag and we sing songs, and there’s so much energy and in all our programming and curriculum we infuse Jewish values, Torah and themes and rituals into everything we do. We’re an inclusive, welcoming environment. We don’t know where kids are at Jewishly, so we want to naturally infuse these values and themes into every program, into every song, into everything we do. I think kids beg for that. They beg to tell their parents to come back. The minute camp ends they’re signing up again because they want that experience. They want that transformation.
Question: What impact does Samis have?
Zach:
The Samis Foundation support us in so many different ways. You know, we really feel camp shouldn’t be a privilege. It should be a right. And Samis really makes sure that every kid in Washington State has the opportunity to come to camp.
